New York City Fire Department has five Rescue Companies – one in each of the city’s boroughs. The Rescue Companies are the backbone of the Special Operation Command (SOC) Battalion. The men are handpicked veterans who have already proven themselves as the most aggressive and courageous firefighters. As Rescue Firefighters, they are part of an elite team.
On September 11, 2001, all five Rescue Companies responded to the World Trade Center. All five companies lost every man on duty that morning. Of the over 300 New York City Firefighters that died at the World Trade Center, over 100 were from the SOC Battalion.
With special focus on the men of Manhattan Rescue 1 and Brooklyn Rescue 2, this uplifting program will pay tribute to the brave and talented men of the SOC Battalion who perished.

Featuring documentary footage of the Rescue Companies in action, and interviews with Mayor Rudy Giuliani, surviving members of the Rescues, and family members of those who died, “Rescue Company NYC” spotlights the incredible heroics of these men
