The name « Foreign Legion » is mostly associated to elite troops, extreme missions, men of exception, and this prestigious image seduces many candidates.
But for these men who often come to find a break with their past, a solution to an issue, but also solidarity, camaraderie and esteem, the Foreign Legion is the family they want to be part of.
Today, the Foreign Legion counts 143 different nationalities. The recruitment reflects the international situation of the moment and, when it has been mostly Slav for the past few years, with 30% of the population, more and more come from Asia.
As they come from the 4 ends of the world, the legionnaires seem to have nothing in common to the exception of having lost their roots, they are ready to give everything they have, even their life to the Foreign Legion.
The selection is severe. Many candidates are turned down. Every year, from 10 000 candidates, only 10% are enrolled.
This film will show how such different men, with different cultures, languages and history are made into united elite soldiers.
